Description

During an IT analyst conference earlier this month, Dell CEO Michael Dell indicated that the firm will soon offer its ink and toner supplies “in all of the places where people would want to buy ink and toner.” The announcement seemed to confirm rumors that Dell is looking to expand its printer business into the retail channel. Shortly following his comments, Dell issued a press release announcing a retail partnership with Staples that will allow the office superstore to sell Dell computers, monitors, printers, ink, and toner. Dell’s expansion into retail will have a major impact on the supplies market, and could open the door for more open distribution of Dell’s printer hardware.
